Little Rock Basketball Announces Release of 2024-25 Schedule
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With an eye on defending their Ohio Valley Conference title, the Little Rock Men's Basketball Team will take on a tough road schedule in non-conference play to prepare for another run at the OVC crown. The Trojans' 2024-25 schedule includes match-ups with five in-state opponents, including the first meeting with the Arkansas Razorbacks since 2021. Season tickets will go on sale for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, August 20 and can be purchased by calling the Trojan Ticket Office at 501-916-3257.
The season opens on Nov. 4, when the Trojans take on Arkansas Baptist at the Jack Stephens Center. Little Rock then goes on a six-game road trip, starting with a contest against the Big South's Winthrop Eagles on Nov. 9. The Trojans then head to Jonesboro to face in-state rival Arkansas State on Nov. 12 before games at UTSA on Nov. 16 and Tulsa on November 20.
The Trojans will face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Nov. 22 in Fayetteville. The last time the two teams met was on Dec. 4, 2021.
"We look forward to playing in a great environment at an SEC arena," said Head Coach Darrell Walker, an Arkansas alum who played for the Razorbacks from 1980 to 1983. "Fayetteville is a special place for me and will be a great road test for our team."
The Trojans will face Illinois on Nov. 25 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. Last season, the Fighting Illini advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament before falling to the eventual national champions, UCONN Huskies.
Following the game against Illinois, the Trojans return home to the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock for four-straight non-conference home games, starting with a pre-Thanksgiving Day match-up against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 27.
Following the holiday, the Trojans host in-state rival Central Arkansas on Dec. 4, in the Governor's I-40 Showdown, presented by Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Little Rock closes the non-conference schedule with a pair of games at the Jack Stephens Center, taking on Ouachita Baptist on Dec. 10 and the UIC Flames from the Missouri Valley Conference on Dec. 15.
"We're excited for our non-conference schedule and feel like it will prepare us for OVC play," said Walker. "You must be able to win games away from home which we were able to do last season. That's a big reason why we were able to win the OVC."
With a new 20 game conference schedule, the Trojans open Ohio Valley Conference play at the Jack Stephens Center on Dec. 19 against SIUE, followed by a matchup with Eastern Illinois on Dec. 21. After going on the road for two games, Little Rock will host Morehead State at home on Jan. 9 and Southern Indiana on Jan. 11. The Trojans then go on a four-game road series to SEMO, Tennessee Tech, Western Illinois, and Lindenwood.
Little Rock returns home to face Tennessee State on Jan. 30 and UT Martin on February 1. Little Rock will host a four-game home stand starting with SEMO on Feb. 11 and Tennessee Tech on Feb. 13. The following week, the Trojans conclude the home schedule facing Lindenwood on Feb. 20 and Western Illinois on Feb. 22.
The regular season wraps up with the Trojans on the road to face Eastern Illinois and SIUE.
"In conference play, the most important thing we have to do is take care of our home court, and we were able to do that last year," Walker said. "I'm very excited about our roster with a good mix of veteran returnees and talented newcomers. This year the target will be on our back as reigning conference champions and we feel like our team will be ready to take on that challenge."
The OVC Tournament is set to return to the Ford Center March 5-8 in Evansville, Indiana.
